Who am I?
I’m Richard Schlossbach
And I’m running for Neptune Township Council
As an Independent
Why am I running as an independent?
I believe in pragmatic and forward-looking governing. At this point, I don’t feel either of the “parties” on the local level encompasses all that’s needed to grow the Township of Neptune into the township we need now and going forward. I consider myself a pragmatic progressive or you could say I’m a progressive.
Like most people, we need to balance the cost with what our goals are as a family, a business and a government.
Richard is a dedicated community leader, entrepreneur, artist, and advocate for affordable and sustainable living that encompasses the needs of the different communities and businesses in the township.
As a member of the Neptune Township Planning Board and the Historical Preservation Committee, he works to promote responsible development and the preservation of local history.
With a background in real estate at C21 Schlossbach Realty, he helps clients find the perfect homes and businesses. He owes his success to listening and working person-to-person.
His passion for service extends to delivering meals for seniors and volunteering as a teacher at the Neptune Senior Center.
A seasoned restaurateur, he has owned and operated several acclaimed establishments at the shore, including Dauphin Grille, Langosta Lounge, and Pop’s Garage with his sister Marilyn. He is also a theater enthusiast and advocate for the arts and culture, having experience in performing, directing, and playwriting. He has served on the boards of acclaimed non-profit organizations in NYC.
Additionally, he is an avid student and practitioner of politics and civics, continuously learning and engaging in discussions on governance and community affairs. Richard has a strong belief in the importance of communication and transparency, ensuring that his work and community involvement fosters trust and collaboration.
He has been a homeowner in Ocean Grove for many years, and his ties to Neptune go back to his grandparents, his Uncle Ike, who operated the Asbury-Neptune Airport on Rt. 66. and his Uncle Teddy, who was a renowned surgeon at the shore.
